The Christoffelturm

Most people walk past the old stones in the station underpass without noticing them, or realising what they are. These are the last remnants of the huge city gate, the Christoffelturm, that was demolished in 1864 – after a referendum, of course. Only the Swiss could democratically destroy a medieval landmark.
